It's the same old story: get married, have children, form a thrash-folk fusion band to play the college circuit. Now that I’m old enough to know better, I’ve gotten sneakier. I’ve been known to run by the pool, ride with no helmet, and cross on the flashing red hand. I believe in Plato’s Republic, Bill Wilson, and Yard Sales. I maintain that everyone who has ever played billiards knows at least a little something of trigonometry. I'm certain that dogs know calculus. I don't drink, or take other drugs, but I really don't care if you do. -<^>- Now that you know me so well, I'll tell you why I'm here on Trigger Street: I find that reviewing the work of others improves my writing. Whenever I offer a constructive critique, no matter how carefully considered and detailed, I do so through no altruistic desire to help the other writer. Nor do I hope to receive the same friendly advice from someone else. No, the basic fact is that every time I read a story, as I take notes and compose a review, I make decisions about how I would improve that story. By doing so I inadvertently improve my own work in exactly the same way. If another person gets something out of the process, then I can chalk-up a few good karma points along the way, but the net result is that reviewing mainly helps the reviewer. -<^>- My one request for all of you out there on Trigger Street is to keep on uploading better and better work all the time. The better your story is, the more I learn from reviewing it!
